I am a creative writer with experience in many areas : teaching languages, translating fiction, performing folk music and writing poetry. My book of poetry "Сни" ("Night Dreams") is just one example. But here is a story about how I started as a biographer.
As a student of Ethnology many years ago, I had an incredibly rewarding experience of creating a project about my own family history. It took half a year, during which I travelled to different parts of Ukraine and connected with elder members of my family. The result was a handwritten family tree booklet that won the university competition. For me, however, the prize was not that important. What I cherished, was the opportunity to document the stories that were so vital to me and the future generations. I listened carefully to my oldest relatives and wrote down prose pieces about their life experiences. My elder relatives are gone now, but their stories still live.
Since then, I am deeply committed to preserving unique histories in the most authentic form. I care that they reflect every detail of the narration and at the same time compose a unity, in which the time, the place and every personality are conveyed in a single work of art.
